FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
DENBIGHSHIRE, Wales, UK - Meliden Football Club C.I.C. ("Meliden FC"/"Meliden") has published the following statement:
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the decision to withdraw from the league for the remainder of the season.
After losing our management team just four games into the campaign, followed by a number of key players, we’ve unfortunately been unable to recover.
Despite our best efforts to rebuild, the consistency and commitment needed to compete just hasn’t been there — and continuing would only risk further damage to the club’s long-term future.
This is not the end. This is a step back to reset, rebuild, and come back stronger next year.
Over the past year, a huge amount of work has gone on behind the scenes — from investment in our brand-new pitch, to the installation of new dugouts and fencing around the ground. The foundations are there.
As part of that, we’ll be opening up our facilities to the wider community — with plans to host local school tournaments, trials for county-level teams, and more. If any junior teams would like to use the pitch throughout the year, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via our socials.
We’ll still be working in the background during this break, and we’re already planning for next season — including the introduction of a junior setup and the formation of a fresh, committed squad.
If you're someone who wants to be part of building something from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you. Stay in touch with us via our socials and be part of the next chapter.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported us over the years, our players, managers, our sponsors, our hard working committee Gemma, Ryan, Chris, Alice, Mel, our media man Ron and most importantly our fans who followed us to big away days and were there through both the ups and downs — we’ll be back 🧡🖤
